A Cornish Story Worth Tasting

Discover the history of Sarah’s Pasty Shop, a family-run bakery in the heart of Looe. From our humble beginnings to our famous Cornish pasties today, it’s a story of tradition, community, and a love of great food.

Our Story

A Pasty-Loving Legacy in the Heart of Looe

It all started over 30 years ago in a cosy little fishing cottage on Buller Street, right in the heart of Looe. Sarah, armed with a rolling pin, a love of traditional recipes, and plenty of Cornish spirit, set out to create something special. She turned a humble net store into the warm, welcoming home of Sarah’s Pasty Shop, and the rest, as they say, is history!

A Slice of Looe’s Rich History

Looe is a town bursting with history and charm, dating back to the 12th century. Split by the River Looe into East and West, the two sides are connected by a historic stone bridge, creating a picturesque harbour that’s been at the heart of Cornish life for centuries. Once a bustling hub for fishing, trade, and even smuggling, Looe still carries echoes of its fascinating past in its cobbled streets and historic buildings.

Today, the town thrives as both a working fishing port and a beloved destination for visitors. Whether you’re strolling along the sandy beach, watching the fishing boats unload their daily catch, or soaking up the stunning views from Banjo Pier, Looe’s charm is hard to resist. Of course, no visit to Looe is complete without indulging in its culinary treasures – from fresh seafood to our famous Cornish pasties, handmade right here on Buller Street.

It’s a town that leaves a mark on every visitor, blending history, beauty, and the warmest of welcomes – much like a bite of one of our pasties!

Meet the Team Behind the Crimps

Fast forward to today, and Sarah’s Pasty Shop is now in the expert hands of her eldest daughter, Lucy. For the past 19 years, Lucy has been proudly wearing the apron strings, keeping the family tradition alive with just as much passion (and a whole lot of skill!). Alongside Lucy is a talented team of crimpers and bakers, each dedicated to making sure every pasty that leaves the shop is a little bundle of Cornish magic.

Our team is all about family values, a love of good food, and putting smiles on faces – one pasty at a time. Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, you’ll always be greeted with a warm smile and the delicious smell of freshly baked pastry.

Family Tradition

For over 30 years, Sarah’s Pasty Shop has been a family-run bakery, proudly handcrafting authentic Cornish pasties.

Authentic and Handmade

Each pasty is lovingly crimped by hand, baked fresh daily, and made with carefully sourced local ingredients.

A Slice of Cornwall’s History

Located in a historic fishing cottage, our shop is as much a part of Looe’s charm as the harbour itself.

So, what makes Sarah’s Pasty Shop special? It’s the little things – the hand-crimped edges, the carefully sourced local ingredients, and the love and care that goes into every bake. From our traditional Cornish pasties to our creative new flavours (hello, Thai butternut squash!), we’re proud to offer something for everyone – vegan, gluten-free, or just plain hungry!

Come and visit us on Buller Street, or give us a call to pre-order your favourites. Whether you’re popping by for a quick bite, stocking up for a road trip, or sending a taste of Cornwall to loved ones with our postal pasties, we can’t wait to share a little piece of Sarah’s with you.
